What Are Dental Implants?
Dental implants are small titanium screw that replaces the root portion of the tooth. Dental implants can be placed at the time of the extraction or after the extraction when the area is fully healed. Dental implants can be placed in the upper and lower jaw. After the implant is placed, it will take two to three months for the implant to completely fuse with the surrounding bone. This period is considered the healing period for the dental implant. After the healing period is over, an impression is taken and the crown is placed on the implant. At Euclid Dental Center, we will place and restore the dental implant all in our own office.
At the first appointment, we use a special x-ray called a CT scan to measure the surrounding bone structure to determine the size and width of the implant that we want to use. The CT scan is a three dimensional image that allows us to completely visualize the area that we want to place the implant in. CT scans prior to implant placement are now considered standard of care. At Euclid Dental Center, we have an in-house CT scan machine that we allow us to quickly evaluate your situation and provide you with optimum care at your convenience.

What Can I Expect
From My Dental Implant Procedure?
If you are wishing to schedule a dental implant procedure here at Euclid Dental Center, our dental team will make sure to answer all your questions in detail. It all starts with a CT scan which will allow us to properly evaluate you. After the CT scan is taken, we will determine how many and what size implants we will use. Our team will place the titanium implants into the gum so that they can properly fuse with the jaw bone. This process can take up to three months. During this time, we will fit you with a set of temporary teeth to wear over your implants. Once fusion has occurred, our dental team will then see you for a second appointment to attach your permanent new teeth onto your implants.
